HARVEST

In 2022, the UK faced an exceptionally hot and dry harvest season, with temperatures exceeding 40°C. This extreme heat led to a 21% increase in farm fires, according to NFU Mutual. The combination of rising temperatures, dry conditions, and high crop yields made fire risk particularly high. These growing threats to food production underscore the vulnerability of agriculture as climate change accelerates. The increase in farm fires highlights the wider environmental and economic challenges the UK faces in adapting to changing climate patterns.
