On The Line.
Silent Film, Super 8 (04:52), 2017. Alan McFetridge.
On The Line is a compelling short film by Alan McFetridge, shot on Super 8 in 2017 along the infamous Highway 63 in Fort McMurray, Alberta. With its dangerous history, this road became a symbol of urgency and fragility during the chaotic evacuation of May 3, 2016, as wildfires consumed the surrounding landscape. Through haunting visuals and evocative storytelling, the film examines the devastating scale of the fire and reflects on humanity’s race toward oblivion, fueled by the human causes of climate change. On The Line invites viewers to confront the delicate balance between survival and destruction in an era defined by ecological crisis.
