Delighted to announce a solo exhibition and book launch at Wedge Gallery, Sydney, Australia.
For a first solo exhibition at Wedge Gallery, Dead End, Alan McFetridge culminates work from his research project on fire ecology. A haunting array of large scale photographs and cameraless photograms, shot across Australia and Canada, they present the harsh brutality as over 200 years widespread human use of fossil minerals such as coal, oil and more recently, plastic devastates local communities by a catastrophic limit imposed by the rest of nature, hellfire. A dead end.
His field studies are carefully organised to translate the human experience of the wildfire phenomenon, as climate heating takes hold, into the gallery. Highlighting his unique ability find clarity amidst chaos then imbedding the subject into the final works through experimentation and unconventional print materials.
Book Launch: 5:30pm, July 25th 2019
Exhibition Opening: 6:00 - 8:00pm July 25th 2019, continues until August 6th 2019.
