INTRODUCTION

World renown Dutch Educator Corinne Noordenbos is in London to share her knowledge through a lecture, discussion and workshop. Please read on for the workshop information, a biography, testimonials and dates.

We aim to invigorate photography projects. Sometimes ideas can become stagnant or shelved. Or it might be that you want a trusted system to apply at the beginning, thus shortening the photobook-making process. The workshop aims to move ideas forward in intensive sessions and create a resilient centre for projects, especially for those interested in a generative social response.

TELL IT IN A NARRATIVE | ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Corinne Noordenbos will deliver an intensive workshop over 3 days on visual language, narrative and the photobook as a communication tool. This is a practice and theory-based workshop intended for those with a photographic project they're looking to develop, with a particular focus on the photobook.

The workshop aims for photographers currently developing a project. Tasks will be set to be completed outside of the scheduled workshop times, so please make sure you have plenty of availability throughout the workshop period. Participants must be ready to work with others and grow a group dynamic.

To begin, Corinne will discuss her photographic practice in an artist talk and give an introduction to the photobook on a theoretical and technical level. The workshop will then combine individual tasks, group work and discussions. Tasks will be playful and often with high-speed dynamics. Throughout the three days participants will be introduced to a methodology in the development of research, process and reflection towards concept and possible resolutions for their projects.

At the end of the workshop, all participants will have produced at least 1 photobook dummy/sequence.

Workshop Aims & Benefits

Forming a group can have terrific value for sole creators and independent artists. When you look at the success of groups such as The Guerilla Girls, Dischord Records or The Royal Society, lonely artist mode appears somewhat of a myth. In group player modes, the possibility of growing distribution networks and sharing at any stage of the process becomes regular in your process.

This leads to a resilient economy for the artist because you are less reliant on large organisations and significant profit share demands. We hope you can be part of those that adopt early.

Value: Workshop Fees are to host Corinne and appropriate fees for her invaluable insight, knowledge and experience. A minimal amount is set aside to cover studio costs, and we commit to keeping the participant fees minimum.

Lunch is included: Alan is making his famous homemade soups with delicious mustard croutons and fresh espresso on demand, low cost and tasty.

Develop the way you can speak about your work and ideas

Develop evaluating skills and build a group dynamic feedback loop

Develop a narrative led by a world-leading voice in Photobook development

“I appreciated most in this class was being reminded of the distinction between the content of a project and the visual language the photographers apply to tell the story.”

TESTIMONIALS

"Corinne Noordenbos’ workshop is by far the best workshop I ever attended.” The three days were packed with rich and yet very simple information about how to develop one’s vision as a photographer. It’s hard to believe that It was possible to learn such an amazing methodology in such a shot time.

It’s also very important to say that Corinne is a great teacher. She never imposes her view or style on the students and encourages team work all the time. She is never judgmental of peoples works and all she does is to present a way of working that helps peoples clarifying their interests and finding a way to develop their own vision as photographers. She’s always very generous and honest and is definitely able to create an environment where people are not afraid to open up and work as a team, what is very important, as we can continue supporting each other after the workshop ends.

I definitely recommend it!”

André Penteado,Saò Paulo- Brasil

"Really like the use of the wall, that I call "Dutch screen": immediate and direct, so far from the touch screen of our electronic device.”

Salvatore Santoro, Bologna

“This workshop exceded all my expectations. No doubt it was a very special day in the 36 years I dedicate myself to photography. Starting today, take me answers to questions a long time. Thank you very much Corinne for transmitting us in such a short time so much experience that led us to open our minds and changed our looks.”

Isabel Carvalhaes, Santos - São Paulo - Brasil

Thank you so much for all that you've taught us today.  “Your generosity was overwhelming. It's always very difficult for me to show my work to others.  Today you showed us the importance of working in a group. I can't wait to try this out.

Thank you thank you thank you with all my heart.”

Carolina Cattan,Rio de Janeiro- Brasil

This workshop blew my mind wide open! There are soo many amazing revelations, even beyond the photo book and it's possibilities. The most profound for me was; Having always used photography for my own internal conversations and understandings about the life I have been given, I now realize that importance of audience if you decide to share that language publicly.

Ingvar Kenne, Zagreb (coming from Sydney)

Corinne and Fiore show how to clarify the foundation of a project. They show how to ask the right questions. What now seems obvious about my work wasn't all clear to me before attending the workshop. This is great guidance for consistent decision-making!"

Simon Kruger, Zagreb (Vienna)

Corinne completely changed the way I will now tackle this project and future projects; I’ve now got a much better understanding of connecting ideas and visual language through the what and how framework. She addressed all my wins and failures with great humour, grace and powerful insight. I left the session feeling so inspired and renewed with so much new knowledge.
