Custom Printing: How to Prep Your Files
From resolution of your file to the correct DPI for the size and colour profiling, these are the main items to be aware of:
Colour Profiles - Think about profiles as a translator between your digital file and the printer. From the
Adobe 1998 colour space is a good starting point for the files colour profileas this has a wider colour space than sRGB standard setting. sRGB works best for viewing images on the web. If your image file is sRGB, our experienced technicians will extract the maximum available data.
2: Size: 300 dpi is the optimum print resolution, ideally files should be sized at 300dpi at the required, output size. For example, a 10”x8” print at 300dpi would be 20.6mb (8 bit).
3: File Formats: JPEG, TIFF’s are preferred although we do accept PDF and PNG’s, if you have any layers please remember to flatten them.
4: Help: For large prints, a lower dpi can be acceptable, please contact us for advice. Advanced uses are
welcome to download our colour profiles for soft proofing.
